Paul G. LaPoint, M.D. is a St. Louis native who attended St. Louis University High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Biology at the University of Kansas in 1989. He graduated from St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1993 and completed his residency at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska in 1997, totaling 12 years of Jesuit education.
Shortly thereafter, he joined Dr. James Ottolini in private practice at St. Luke's Hospital. Dr. Ottolini mentored Paul for 7 years of joint practice. When Dr. Ottolini retired in 2004, Dr. LaPoint joined Obstetrical Associates, the largest OB/GYN group based at St. Luke's Hospital. Dr. LaPoint also has privileges at both St. John's Mercy Medical Center and Missouri Baptist, both located in St. Louis County.
Dr. LaPoint says he was drawn to this area of medicine because, "I enjoy practicing primary care, surgery and obstetrics, and OB/GYN combined all three; plus I enjoy the long-term relationships I form with my patients -- seeing them over many years and even decades of their lives."
Dr. LaPoint is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the American Medical Association, the Missouri State Medical Association, and is a past president of the Medical Staff Association at St. Luke's Hospital. He is Board Certified to practice Obstetrics and Gynecology.
